Dr. Gottfried H. Wagner is the great-grandson of Franz Liszt and the great Richard Wagner. He works internationally as a freelance lecturer, author and multimedia director, focusing on 19th and 20th century European culture and politics, Kurt Weill, Aldo Finzi, Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner. For his work on Liszt and Wagner he was awarded various prizes.

Having made a break with his father’s family, he appears in public as a consistent critic of the Wagner family’s involvement with the NS regime.
